A church in Illinois offered 18 summer electives for kids, including one called “Fencing, Training Yourself to Be Godly,” “The focus was on praying for the persecuted church in five locations as well as learning the ancient skill of sword fighting,” said instructor Jennifer A. “We related fencing to the idea that we are in a spiritual battle.”

The class did projects from Kids of Courage publications to help them understand the lives of bold believers around the world, and they wrote letters to Christians in prison for their faith. “Four hundred of our K-3 children pray every month for their brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted,” said Jennifer.
